Close to the beach, transport and the shop-o-rama of Westfield, Miranda is an underrated place to stay. Only three stops on the Cityrail Illawarra line and you're at Cronulla. Head up the line in the other direction and you're in the CBD – 24 km and 50 minutes on a train from Miranda. Westfield Miranda was the biggest shopping centre in the southern hemisphere until Westfield Parramatta came along, but it's still pretty bloody big. Rent a room with a verandah at Miranda.
