Oz's capital is dead set littered with national monuments: The Australian War Memorial, National Gallery of Australia, Parliament House etc., etc. Some rude out-of-towners have called it boring, but they're not a short drive from excellent wineries, Civic's thriving nightlife, the National Zoo and so much else. Getting in's a snack, with a taxi from Canberra Airport - 8 km south-east of the CBD is about 30 bucks; a shuttle is 9.
